The Devil Exclusive
|
|
The devil has come to Earth. What's more, he has turned himself in to the authorities with but a single request: to give a public statement to a journalist. The resident psychologist suggests there might be value in witnessing such an exchange, and the arrangements are made. As the journalist listens to the man speak, however, he begins to suspect that he might really be talking to the Devil, and just as he becomes convinced, the true purpose of the interview is revealed - the Devil is declaring victory over God.

"WOW! This frightening and funny piece makes a thought-provoking argument for why things are the way they are, and Dunne pulls no punches with his rather dark, but cogent world-view. Scathing, hopeless, and brilliant, with a tour de force role for the title character." (Doug DeVita, New Play Exchange, 2020)

"The Devil Exclusive, which is far deeper than its darkly comedic elements suggest, delves into the trenches of existence, theologically battling a soul-grappling theory about religion, God, and the Devil that will send heads spinning. Regardless of your personal religious beliefs, there is powerful thought occurring here and evocative statements being proclaimed in this too-brief exploration of higher powers and their roles in the world as it stands. Dunne creates a striking masterpiece in this play, presenting shocking statements for pondering that will leave your mind whirling after the show closes, and may possibly be the only thing you think about all the rest of the night. Dunne explains the necessity of the devil, explores the notion of free will as a tenant of existence because both God and The Devil do exist, and examines all sorts of logical conclusions that spring from these principals." (Amanda Gunther, Theatre Bloom, 2018)

"I loved this piece and what it had to say about our nature. Witty and engaging, Dunne's script would be a welcome addition to a short play festival that proves you don't need spectacle to sell a play, just a smart idea, told simply. I'd love to see this produced." (John Busser, New Play Exchange, 2019)

"Symbolism reigns supreme is in this poignant two-character play where one character knows more than he lets on and the other is in more danger than he suspects. Great vehicle for two actors who posses great timing. Loved it!!" (Rey Dabalsa, New Play Exchange, 2019)

"Every great script begins with phenomenal writing. The original script of The Devil's Exclusive, written by Jeff Dunne - this guy is a combination of Stephen King, Alfred Hitchcock, Charles William, and Rod Serling, with a touch of Dashiell Hammet and a dash of Jeffery Dever. He is rare gem with an amazing imagination. Thank you Jeff for allowing Black Carpet Productions and PreeVision Films to bring your vision to the screen." (Adiyb Muhammad, Black Carpet Productions, 2018)
