The Present

Jesse is attempting to give a present to James, who seems unable or unwilling to accept it. She tries to understand how a straightforward act of kindness has gone astray, but to no avail. Eventually Jesse gives up and goes away.
As one might guess, a plot that's this out-of-nowhere has to be based on actual life experiences. At its core, it is about unexpected and unintended consequences, and the bafflement that accompanies them.
