The Unfortunate Teller
|
|
A fortune teller cannot make it to work, and has asked a friend to stand in for a little while. The friend begrudgingly agrees, but the only deck of tarot cards to be found is one made by the children of the absent fortune teller. When a customer comes in for a reading, the friend must make do with that deck and provide the best reading possible under the circumstances.
Note: While the two roles can be played by either gender, it works best when the friend is male and the customer is female.

Testimonials:
-
"A fabulous spoof on the pseudo-psYchic! Love the friend who finds their "voice". This play should be 10 minute play festival bound!" (Vivian Lermond, New Play Exchange, 2020)
-
"HA! What a fun little 10 minute play. Dunne's writing is fast-paced and witty. Watching the wheels turn in the Faux-Fortune Teller's mind trying to come up with a plausible explanation for a tarot reading is comic gold. I could DEFINITELY foresee (see what I did there?) this in any 10 minute play festival." (John Busser, New Play Exchange, 2019)
-
"This is a hilarious ten-minute play, and a great role for the "Friend," who grows from uncertainty to hilarity and confidence. A great addition to any ten-minute festival, and wonderful showcase for a comic actor. " (John Minigan, 2019)
