Love’s Disenlightenment
|
|
A playwright is showing his latest work to his significant other, who also happens to be the artistic director of the local theater. While the play's lack of dialog is not troubling, she struggles to get over its lack of actors. In the end, however, she discovers that this love story between a stick and a lamp might actually be more meaningful than a simple backlash from when nobody showed up to auditions the week before.

Testimonials:
-
"The premise is captivating. The story is richly layered with meaning. (I love the "diversity" message.) The dialogue is pitch-perfect and crisp. Even the silent stagehands were carefully drawn. It's poignant and funny!" (Kumea Shorter-Gooden, 2021)
-
"Never mind "What is art?" "What is love?" is the question. And it's a good question, especially when represented by two inanimate objects that effectively--and efficiently--represent the romantic struggles that humans go through. Learning to see through others' eyes is frequently difficult, but you have to watch through to the end. A really nice play full of humor and tenderness." (George Sapio, New Play Exchange, 2021)
-
"Such a fun, satirical poke at a playwright/director miscommunication over the eternal question of "what is art"? A fine romp through a mine field of stretching the boundaries of imagination!" (Vivian Lermond, New Play Exchange, 2020)
